Hansen injured, Canucks recall Chaput

The news has gone from bad to worse for the Vancouver Canucks.

On an eight-game losing streak, they’re already without their top defence pairing of Alex Edler and Chris Tanev. On Monday it was revealed that they’ll also be without Jannik Hansen, who has been placed on IR.

Hansen injured his shoulder on a hit delivered from Morgan Rielly of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Dane has been one of the few bright lights for the Canucks. It seems that every line he plays on is Vancouver’s best, which was evident on Saturday. Hansen was on the ice for all three Canucks goals, which were scored by two different lines.

With Hansen out, the Canucks have recalled centre Michael Chaput from the Utica Comets. Chaput leads the Comets in points so far this season with 13 (2-11-13) in 10 games.

The 24-year-old from Ile Bizard, Quebec has 58 career NHL games – all with Columbus – over the past three seasons.
