Vancouver’s hip hop community is throwing a benefit concert to help out fellow artist J Swift of The Pharcyde. The Iconic rap group attempted to return to the US after their sold out show at Fortune Sound Club January 14. J Swift was turned away from US officials and held by Canadian boarder guards and striped of this passport.

The Spanish born rapper J Swift now faces deportation to Spain even though he has been a resident of the US since he was two years old. J Swift, who admits he has a criminal record, has crossed the border numerous times during the past three years for concerts and is confused why this time is any different.

J Swift has been staying with friends while accumulating lawyer fees trying to get home to his family. The Benefit concert will be hosted by Dj Flipout and will include performances by Fat lip of The Pharcyde, three time Grammy winner Chin Injeti, Kyprios, and North West Division to name a few. Cover charge will go to help with lawyer fees and help J get back on his feet after not working for nearly two months.

The benefit concert will be held at The Alexander in Gastown march 22nd.
