Izakaya Gon’s has only been open for a few weeks, but it’s definitely a must-try Japanese foodie destination in Vancouver already.
The 854 Denman Street spot opened in the West End on May 18 in the former space of another Japanese eatery, Yuzu.

With drool-worthy eats like Aburi Unagi Oshi-Sushi, tamagoyaki (Japanese Style Omelettes), tempura bowls, raw tapas, and fresh sashimi, this izakaya-style restaurant seems to have a great menu.
Izakaya Gon’s will also offer a special lunch box, but only ten of them per day, so be sure to plan your visit and get some of this Japanese grub ASAP.
This box is only $20 and you get seasonal tempura, fresh sashimi, premium wagyu beef, carpaccio salad, chawanmushi steamed egg pudding, miso soup, pickled veggies, and steamed rice, of course.
You can head to this spot for lunch from 11:30 am to around 3 pm, and dinner from 5:30 pm to 1 am any day of the week.
