On November 14, Rogers Arena opened its doors to the expanded TEDxVancouver, bringing together 3,500 people to be inspired by ideas. Over 20 speakers took to the stage with the theme of “I.D.” in mind, including Ivan Coyote, a seasoned stage performer tackling the issues of gender identity.

Highlighting the need for gender neutral washrooms in all public places, Coyote gave a riveting talk to a standing ovation.

“As a trans person who doesn’t fit neatly into the gender binary, if I could change the world tomorrow to make it easier for me to navigate, the very first thing I would do is blink and create single-stall gender-neutral bathrooms in all public places.”
