5 most anticipated international chains opening soon in Vancouver
It’s no secret that Vancouver welcomes international chains into its foodie scene like millennials welcome avocado for breakfast, but there are some that we can hardly wait for.
Eateries like PappaRoti, L’Éclair de Génie, and Mott 32 all experienced successful 2017 openings and expansions in Vancouver, so it’s clear that international brands are going to continue to flourish as they open more and more concepts here.

Hot-Star Large Fried Chicken
The chain of fast food outlets originating at the Taipei Shi-Lin Night Market is known for its massive (bigger than your face) chicken cutlets served in paper sleeves. A 1,500 sq. ft. Vancouver location is slated to open at Central at Garden City in Richmond this summer. Additional outposts in Downtown, Metrotown, and Coquitlam are planned to follow.
Address: Garden City in Richmond
Ramen Taka
This eatery hails from Japan, where it currently has five locations. The Bidwell street eatery will be Ramen Taka’s ‘first direct operated international restaurant,’ and we can’t wait to taste the ramen offered on the menu here.
Address: 841 Bidwell Street, Vancouver
Phone: 778-917-0110
Zaatar W Zeit
Zaatar W Zeit is set to open at 535 Granville Street this summer and we couldn’t be more pumped – because this spot is pop-u-lar in the Middle East (once you peep their Instagram, you’ll see why). We wouldn’t be surprised if you hadn’t heard of this eatery before because it’s the first Canadian location for the Lebanese chain.

Uncle Tetsu – Metrotown
It’s official! Looks like @UncleTetsuCanad will be opening a store in VANCOUVER! This at Metrotown right next to @Mujicanada! @VancityBuzz pic.twitter.com/cYfmPHPkK3

Metro Vancouver has been waiting to get its own Uncle Tetsu since the Japanese-dessert chain first touched down in Toronto in 2015. But now, the wait is almost over for us West Coasters. There have been murmurings of a Vancouver location opening this year, but a picture sign says a thousand words: Uncle Tetsu will be opening their first BC location in Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre.
