Indigenous City Gathering: An Evening of Storytelling, Food & Performance on November 7

How do we talk about building a city? Through story? Food? Art? What about music or film? On Saturday, November 7 the Indigenous City Gathering brings together these elements for an unforgettable night of conversation, connection and community at SFU Woodward’s.

Join SFU Public Square , Rain City Chronicles and grunt gallery for a stirring evening featuring extraordinary Indigenous leaders, artists and community members. From storytelling to live painting, traditional foods and memorable performances, the first Indigenous City Gathering will spark conversation and connection around the theme of city building. This is the closing event of the SFU Public Square 2015 Community Summit: We The City .

Hosted by Renae Morrisseau, the evening will include:

  • Presentation and performances by Gabriel George, Cecilia Point, Ginger Gosnell-Myers, Karen Joseph, Senaqwila Wyss and more.
  • Screening of Mia’ by Amanda Strong and Bracken Hanuse Corlett
  • Live painting by AKOS (Corey Bulpitt).
  • Musical performance by SEE Monster, DJ and visual artist duo.

The Indigenous City Gathering will kick-off with a FREE community market featuring local Aboriginal makers. Drop by SFU Woodwards at 6:30pm to see what Vancouver’s Indigenous makers have to offer!
