Canada's largest light show is coming to Richmond this summer

Starting May 5, the Illumination Summer Night Market is coming to Richmond – and you need to check it out.

For starters, it’s way more than just a night market.

In fact, it’s the first ever, largest summer light show to open in Vancouver, combined with a multicultural night market. It’s also super easy to access – located at 12631 Vulcan Way in Richmond near IKEA and situated beside the Knight Street Bridge.

Running from May 5 to September 10, the night market will be open every weekend from Friday to Sunday evening. The event will include 12 sets of colourful light displays with thousands of glimmering lights that range from 0.5 m to 2.0 m tall.

The Illumination Summer Night Market is teaming up with the NanJing QinHuai Light Cultural exchange program to bring you this sparklingly spectacular installation. What’s also cool is that the magnetic light show has even been referred to as the Enchant Christmas Light Maze & Market of the summer. And that means it’s going to be incredible.

Couple this with a quirky teddy bear theme and you have a one-of-a kind event. There will be more than 20 custom-made teddy bears across the market, standing at 2 metres tall. Seriously.

To make it even better, there will also be more than 200 merchandise and 60 food booths onsite that you can browse so you can sample the tasty fare on offer. This includes totally sip-worthy Bubble Tea that you need to try.

Foodies will rejoice because the lineup of unique vendors is awesome, including Yuan’s Chuan Chuan Xiang. For the first time at a night market in the city, the vendor will cook up its hot pot prepared and cooked in skewers, and you’ll be able to try it.

Speaking of food, there will be a total of 60 food vendors with only five left. There will also be more than 100 retail vendors which are 60% sold out.

With more than 20 events taking place at the market weekly, you definitely won’t be bored. This includes special weekends dedicated to themes like music, dance, singing competitions, a culture festival weekend, and even a music festival weekend.

And with more than 300,000 visitors from around the globe expected to attend, you know it’s an event you need to experience.
