It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Well, kind of… for most of us, the holiday season is about spending time with family and friends, but of course the season is also about gifts and since it’s better to give than to receive, we have taken some of the guess-work out of the daunting task of finding the perfect gift.
This first gift guide is for the women in your life – from the practical to the girly-girl, from your mother, to your bestie. And, the best part is that all of these gifts are under $50.
While it can be hard to pick a fragrance for someone else, these mini versions are such a great price that you can get two or three different scents. So they can try them out for themselves.
Available at Anthropologie stores and online.
This time of year, a cute toque is a must have. This one has a touch of extra pretty with the cute metallic details, and, of course, the fun faux fur pom pom on the top. It also comes in black. There is also a matching pair of gloves and a pretty matching scarf, if you want to splurge.
Available at Old Navy stores and online.
Project Dahlia makes a variety of gorgeous pieces that you can customize. We really love these rose gold bangles, which are ideal for layering or wearing on their own. These pretty bangles are made in Toronto, and ship super-fast right to your door.
Arguably the chicest water bottles out there. And before you think, “I don’t need a chic water bottle”, you’ll be pleased to know that these pretty bottles are equal parts fashion and function. Unlike most reusable water bottles, these cuties are made from glass with a silicone cover – which makes them easy to clean, resilient to damage, and easy to grip during your hot yoga class. They are available in both 500ml and 1 litre sizes, and can be ordered in pretty much any colour you can think of!
Available at various retailers around town, including Holt Renfrew and Whole Foods.
Monogram-everything was a huge trend last year, and the trend is definitely not going anywhere anytime soon. At this price you can get one for everyone on your list. Start someone’s day off right with these adorable monogram mugs.
Available at Chapters stores and online.
A red lippie is a must – not only during the holiday season, but pretty much all throughout the year. And, Nars makes some of the best reds out there. We are particularly found of the shade ‘Oliva’, as it complements a variety of skin tones. It also is quite moisturizing, even in the coldest of evenings.
Volspa makes the best-smelling candles, pretty much ever! While we are quite fond of the Macaron scent, they also come in fragrances like Saijo Persimmon, Pink Citron, Suede Blanc and Gardenia Colonia. These also make for fabulous hostess gifts. And, the boxes are also so pretty that you don’t even need to wrap them – just stick a bow on it.
Available at The Cross Design & Decor in Yaletown, and on their online store.
A scarf is so much more than just a way to stay warm. This one can add a touch of cozy to any outfit. We also love the grey color, which goes with just about everything. It’s also a great option, as it’s easier to wear than the blanket scarf – which can be a touch tricky to style.
Available at Aritzia stores and online.
While you may think that $22 is a bit pricey for a bottle of nail lacquer, this lacquer is long-wearing, and at the same time is free of formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate. And, while it’s definitely not something I would spurge on for myself, I love giving it as a gift to my besties. We love this shade for the holidays: it’s called ‘Ruby Red Slippers’. So pretty and festive.
Available at Sephora stores as well as online.
These earrings are to-die-for! They are so pretty and fun, and perfect for the girl that has everything. They are the perfect addition to any holiday outfit, and for girls that love a little extra sparkle. They can be worn from brunch, to your office holiday party, or just with jeans and a tee, for a very chic look.
