Attention frugal brides-to-be: Fashion giant H&M is jumping into the bridal game with a discount gown that’s sure to wow.
The floor-length white gown, which includes a fitted waist and beading along the neckline, will retail for $99 in the US – $129 here in Canada.
H&M tells Vancity Buzz the dress will be available starting the week of March 17 at its flagship locations in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
Vancouver’s Pacific Centre will be the only store in B.C. to carry the gown.
The retailer is bringing out a new “conscious exclusive” collection on April 10 that will also have some wedding dress styles, but it’s not clear whether they’ll be available in Vancouver.
H&M isn’t the only retailer to introduce budget wedding dresses. J. Crew has a line of cost-conscious gowns and last month Zac Posen released a line of wallet-friendly dresses for David’s Bridal – Truly Zac Posen –with price tags as low as $850.
With the cost of the average North American wedding ringing in at a whopping $28,000, this H&M gown brings a breath of fresh air into an industry frequently wrought with overpriced items.
