“No sweetheart, that’s not blood.” Hillcrest Aquatic Centre’s swimming pool waters will be dyed pink on¬†Friday, February 14 as part of the Vancouver Park Board’s creative celebrations for Valentine’s Day.

Pink dye will be added to the pool at 4 p.m. and everyone is welcome to come with their loved ones for a ‘romantic swim.’

According to Metro News, the non-toxic pigment only costs Park Board a maximum of $20.00 and will not die your hair or swimsuit pink. The dye is added through a filtration system and will take a day to filter out.

Hillcrest Aquatic Centre is Vancouver’s flagship swimming facility and was built as a part of the Vancouver Olympic Centre. The aquatic facilities include a 50-metre lap pool, 1-3-5-metre diving, leisure pool with lazy river, outdoor pool, a 70-person hot tub, large steam room and sauna, and state of the art fitness centre.

Other facilities at the community centre include a NHL-sized ice rink (formerly the Olympic curling rink), a Vancouver Public Library branch, and gymnasium.
