Driver in hospital after 5-vehicle crash on Highway 1

Sep 29 2017, 4:31 am

One driver was sent to hospital following a collision on Highway 1 Thursday morning.

Just before 9 am, RCMP were called to an area of Highway 1, between 208th and 216th Street in Langley, for a report of a five-vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, RCMP discovered a collision had occurred between four commercial vehicles and one personal vehicle, which caused both west and eastbound traffic to be shut down for much of the day.

The Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services has attended to assist in the investigation, which is being spearheaded by the RCMP Lower Mainland District Traffic Services (Port Mann).

The driver of one of the commercial vehicles was transported to hospital with what are described as serious injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Highway 1 was fully reopened just before 2 pm, but drivers should still expect “significant” delays, police said.
