Chef David Hawksworth, whose namesake Vancouver restaurant has become a modern classic for diners and critics, has revealed details about his second restaurant, including its location.
Hawksworth’s new restaurant will be on the ground and mezzanine level of Oxford Property Group’s MNP Tower at 1021 West Hastings Street. “The location was once the home of University and Quadra Clubs and has an eye-catching heritage façade,” elaborates the chef’s announcement.
“The vision behind the new restaurant will be clean, uncomplicated, ingredient-forward fare with a modern, playful twist,” says Chef Hawksworth, who assures his second restaurant will also celebrate the best of British Columbia’s seasonal produce and products.
The space will be 7,400 square feet, seat 120, and feature a prominent bar. The interior will be designed by Alessandro Munge of the firm Munge Leunge, the firm responsible for the James Beard Award-nominated design of Hawksworth Restaurant. Diners and imbibers popping in for a business lunch or after-dinner drinks will be reveling in an “industrial rustic-chic space” with a “laid-back atmosphere,” promises Hawksworth.
The new restaurant–which as of now doesn’t seem to have a name–is expected to debut in late 2015.
