Happy Hours: 50% off first-course dishes and $5 beer at L’Abattoir

Jun 22 2017, 5:33 am

We’re sipping our way through Vancouver’s happy hours one drink at a time. Happy Hour is an important time in everyone’s life – or at least, it should be.

Gastown is a place where locals and visitors flock when it comes time to eat and drink.

Between the cobblestone walkways and leafy trees, there’s a plethora of outstanding establishments to wet your whistle at when happy hour strikes, and one place to head is local haunt L’Abattoir.

Situated at 217 Carrall Street between Gaoler’s Mews and Blood Alley, L’Abattoir has a happy hour worth fighting downtown rush hour traffic for.

Between 5:30 and 6:30 pm daily the restaurant offers 50% off all first courses (small plates) off the dinner menu. The only two exceptions for this are the Foie Gras and Baked Pacific Oysters, which are full price.

This means items like the pan-fried veal sweetbreads on toast, smoked spring salmon, beef tartare, and glazed Berkshire pork cheek are all half price – AKA our two favourite words.

For bevvies, L’Abattoir’s got a selection of $5 beer, $6 glasses of wine, and $7 rotating cocktail specials concocted by talented head bartender Katie Ingram for this glorious 60-minute time frame.

Clearly, heading to this spot after work is worth it, so be sure to check out L’Abattoir’s Happy Hour and get a taste of this neighbourhood gem.
