A man who was stabbed on Halloween night in New Westminster has since died of his injuries, and now the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken control of the investigation.

IHIT made the update in a tweet on Wednesday, but offered few other details on the case or investigation.

The investigation began around 11:30 pm on October 31, when New Westminster Police (NWPD) were called to the area of 8th Street and Columbia Street for a report of an assault with a weapon, believed to be a knife.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found one man suffering from serious injuries.

Police then found two suspects not far from the scene, who were taken into custody.

At the time, NWPD Staff Sgt. Jeff Scott said the incident appeared to be a targeted one.
