It’s hard to get noticed in a competitive job market, but one inventive BC resident came up with a pretty ingenious way to get his name on the minds of prospective employers by putting his resume right on a four-pack of beer.
Abbotsford’s Brennan Gleason‘s “Résum-Ale” showcases not only the University of the Fraser Valley grad’s experience in his chosen field of web and graphic design, but also his affinity for home brewing.
As part of a course assignment earlier this year focused on self-promotion, Gleason set to brewing a batch of blonde beer, and then designed the bottle labels and the cardboard carry-case, according to Huffpost BC. The packs of beer went out in February, and, not surprisingly, landed Gleason multiple job interviews.
Ultimately, Gleason took a creative director gig with Techtone, a Vancouver digital marketing firm for whom Gleason already been working. He told Huffpo it wasn’t necessarily the alcohol that went with his resume that got him noticed by so many companies: “I think it’s mostly just because it’s different from a traditional resume.”
It is likely the beer, though, that caused his unique approach to landing a job to go viral.
