Guide to Cornucopia: Staying at the Delta Whistler

For the amount of eating and drinking you’ll be doing at Cornucopia, one of the key factors in choosing your hotel is proximity. Since all of the events are in Whistler Village, you’ll ideally want to stay there too, otherwise you’ll find yourself schlepping via taxi to and fro events, which not only dips into your budget for the weekend but is certainly an inconvenience. Given BC’s stringent drinking and driving laws, driving is not an option unless you want to swirl, and spit for the entire 5 days.

Another reason why this is important? It’s chilly in Whistler in November! Given the general dress code of the events, you won’t want to be donning your usual warm Whistler weekend attire at some of these events (particularly the nicer evenings ones). Clearly, this is more of an issue for the ladies than men, but being close by allows you to get around the village with brisk walks, and the shorter the distance in heels, (always) the better.

The Delta Whistler Village Suites is a great example of a hotel located in the heart of the village. It’s walking distance to shopping, restaurants and retail plus a short four blocks away from the ski lifts. Located just around the corner from the Whistler Conference Centre (where several of the Cornucopia events are held), it is also conjoined to a few other great spots including Hy’s Steakhouse, Garfinkel’s and more.

Delta Whistler Village Suites is charming with alpine-interiors, and staff that make you truly feel like you’re a guest. Not only is the front desk friendly (especially if you’ve forgotten toothpaste) but the valet and room service staff were always helpful.

If you’re looking for accommodations for a ski/snowboard trip, they’ve thoughtfully allocated space in the room for your gear, plus with a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave and a handful of small kitchen appliances, you can certainly make yourself snacks in between runs. Or upgrade to a suite and have access to a full kitchen. Bonus: free wifi.
