Take a hike: The Grouse Grind has been reopened today

Nov 11 2017, 12:19 am

For those who can’t decide whether they want to go up or down a mountain today, Grouse Mountain is the place to be.

Yes, on the same day that the lifts are scheduled to start turning at the North Shore ski area, Metro Vancouver announced that the recently-closed-for-the-season Grouse Grind will also be open today until 3:30 pm.

“Recent rain and warmer temperatures have turned the ice and snow at the top into slush,” said Metro Vancouver in a statement. “More rainfall is expected this weekend, so expect muddy or slushy conditions on the trail.”

Officials recommend that those who decide to take on Mother Nature’s Stairmaster bring proper hiking boots, raingear and a headlamp.

Trail conditions will be reassessed by staff “early next week,” the statement said.

The gates are open until 3:30 pm.
