Greek Heritage Month comes to a close Sunday, June 28, but with Greek Day 2015, it will be a fine farewell.
Greek Day takes place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 3200 West Broadway Street, and will feature tons of food, performers, events, and activities.
Two music stages will host Greek music, dance, and singing performances from groups across Vancouver, including the Philhellenic Dance Group, Fasolakia Diaspora, and The Cretan Association of BC.
At the Greek Chef’s Cooking Demo Tent, some of Vancouver’s finest purveyors of Greek cuisine will be on hand, showing off how to make classic dishes like Greek Coffee, Giouvetsi, and Dolmades.
The Kid’s Zone has activities for the younger attendees; they can get their faces painted, learn how to grow a herb garden, take a jump in the bouncy castle, and learn to write their initials in the Greek alphabet.
At the Hellenic Experience Tent, get a peek a Greek living and culture. There will be Greek spoon sweets, tastings of the many different kinds of olive oil and goat cheese produce by the Greeks, and demonstrations of the many uses for olive oil in skin care and health.
Greek Day is a free event. More information can be found at www.greekday.com.
