This is what happens when you ask for a gay cake in Canada

In light of the recent cases being heard in UK and US courts about bakers who have refused to make cakes for same sex weddings, Canada has done it’s usual thing and delighted the internet by dropping the freaking mic.

A Hamilton, Ontario bakery’s response to a request from a gay customer is enough to make even Liza Minnelli shed a tear.

Behold, the most glorious gay cake of all time.

Cake and Loaf Bakery in Hamilton didn’t hesitate or disappoint when a customer asked for, in his own words, “The GAYEST cake they could make.”

The cake features a gold unicorn horn sitting in a bed of multi-coloured sparkly flowers and swirls, rainbow ombre icing, and powerful uplifting words on the cake plate, and it’s nothing short of magical.

The customer posted the finished cake on his Instagram with heartfelt message to the bakery and everyone else who supports the gay community.

In celebrating my engagement to Jared Lenover (It’s been a year… 8 months ’till the big day!!) I wanted to get him a cake to celebrate (he loves cake…as do I!). So I called my local bakery @cakeandloafbakery and requested the GAYEST cake they could make. Without hesitation, and with much excitement, they said “We’ll do it!!!” This is what I got. I am in tears right now I’m so happy.
Being part of the LGBTQ+ community isn’t easy for many. And that’s an huge understatement. But I am proud of who I am, and how fare WE have come. I am proud to be a gay Canadian who can order a cake and not get turned down because of who I love. I love this country, and I love my community.
If you believe that #LoveIsLove, please share, and show our neighbours to the south that we support them. That we empathize with their struggles. That Canada is loud and proud and will make them any cake their heart desires.
