Free yoga at Dude Chilling Park

DH Vancouver Staff May 27, 2015 1:50 pm

Few things in life are free, but now you can add yoga to that short, coveted list.

Yoga instructor Solomon Montijo, along with ten other teachers, hosts free classes daily at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in Dude Chilling Park.

“We do not believe in the commodification of an ancient spiritual tradition. Yoga cannot be commodified, as it is nobody’s to sell. Yoga, to those who have realized it’s potential for healing, upliftment, and transformation, is not a luxury, but rather a necessity,” says Montijo on his “Yoga at Dude Chilling Park” Facebook page.

He encourages people to donate if they can afford it, but everyone is welcome.

“At-risk and under-served communities that need healing the most, and students who cannot give financially are greatly encouraged to show up anyway, as often as they would like, and perhaps ‘pay it forward’ by finding their own way of sharing their kindness, gifts, talents, and unique essence in their own lives and communities.”

If you want to participate, simply come with the following:

  • water bottle
  • yoga mats (bring extra, if you have them)
  • towels, blankets, and props
