On New Year’s Eve (Tuesday, December 31, 2013), TransLink will offer free public transit and extend services by an hour on the Canada Line, Expo Line and SeaBus.
Free public transit and extended service levels are being implemented to help late-night New Year’s revellers to return home safely and responsibly.
Most bus routes will remain on their regular schedules, although some routes will see extended late-night service in addition to regular NightBus service to accommodate larger passenger volumes.
Free fares will begin at 5 p.m. on December 31 and end at 5 a.m. on January 1.
Extended Public Transit on New Year’s Eve – Dec. 31, 2013
SkyTrain will run usual weekday schedules with more frequent evening trains and will extend service by approximately one hour. The last Expo Line train to King George will leave Waterfront at 2:16 a.m.; the last Canada Line train leaves Waterfront at 2:05 a.m. (to YVR) and 2:15 a.m. (to Richmond-Brighouse).
SeaBus will operate a normal weekday schedule but will extend service by about one hour with the last sailing from Lonsdale Quay at 2 a.m. and Waterfront at 2:20 a.m.
West Coast Express afternoon trains depart from Waterfront at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 4:20 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. The 12:55 p.m. TrainBus will be replaced by the 1 p.m. train. All other TrainBus trips will depart at their regular times.
