Free Dr Strangelove Screening at Cinematheque Annual Open House

DH Vancouver Staff May 29, 2014 8:51 am

Each year, long-running downtown film theatre The Cinematheque hosts an annual open house. This year’s Open House is on June 14, and boasts a free screening of Dr. Strangelove.

Visit The Cinematheque for its 6th Annual Open House and explore the inner-workings of Vancouver’s longest-running film organization.

This family-friendly afternoon will feature guided tours of the projection booth, Film Reference Library, and Film Archive and Westcoast Film Collection. There will also be a Dr. Strangelove-themed activity with The Cinematheque’s award-winning Education Department, a film poster auction, and the opportunity to support our donor drive.

Then, at 2:00pm, visitors will be treated to a free, all-ages screening of Stanley Kubrick’s satirical masterpiece Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb with a complimentary bag of the city’s best popcorn.

Coinciding with Open House, The Cinematheque’s Film Lover’s Campaign is back for the entire month of June. As a registered charity, The Cinematheque’s continued success relies on the financial support of our generous donors. Patrons who show their support with donations of $2 or more will be recognized on our donor wall, and donations of $50 or more will be entered into a draw for the chance to win a private screening.

“We are thrilled to open our doors once again for an afternoon of fun and film,” says Acting Managing Director Kate Ladyshewsky. “Our Open House is a great opportunity for film lovers and cultural supporters to discover what happens here behind the scenes, enjoy a film, and show their support by making a donation to our Film Lovers Campaign.”

Ticket to the free 2:00pm screening will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 12:00pm. More info here.
