Thanks to the forecast of much-needed rainfall in Metro Vancouver, admission into the Fair at the PNE will be completely free this weekend for all ages.

Admission into the fairgrounds is free on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Environment Canada anticipates between 50 to 80 mm of rain in the North Shore beginning Friday night and continuing through Saturday. Lesser amounts are anticipated for municipalities south of Burrard Inlet.

“We’re happy the four month long province-wide drought is ending, we just wish it wasn’t in the middle of our event,” reads a statement by PNE CEO Mike McDaniel.

“Anyone living in the lower mainland knows how to dress for and have a good time despite rainy weather. We’re encouraging people to get out the raincoat they haven’t used in four months and head out to the Fair. It’s a great chance to check out the shows and attractions and wrap up the summer Vancouver-style, in the rain.”

Admission into the Fair at the gate is normally $16.00 for adults, $8.00 for seniors and free for children ages 13 and under. This year’s Fair runs runs almost daily until Labour Day, September 7, except on Monday, August 31.

Fair attractions have improved considerably this year, with the introduction of a nightly Peter Pan musical performance at the Pacific Coliseum (with the famous SuperDogs shows during the afternoon), Beatles memorabilia exhibit, animatronic dinosaur exhibit, comic book superhero exhibit, and Craft Beer Festival featuring 20 local craft brewers.

This is in addition to the unique fair eats, nightly concerts, pyrotechnics, and the rides found at PlayLand amusement park, including the newly opened Beast pendulum ride.
