From coast to coast Canada’s culinary scene is thriving. In this weekly column, we round up the biggest food-focused stories from across the country each week.

See what your fellow Canadians are hungry for right here:

Vancouver

  • Breakfast poke is now a thing in Vancouver. And, as if that’s not already the most novel food trend of the day, they’re serving it atop avocado toast. Just take our money.
  • A Vancouver chef wants the city to stop eating sh*tty tortillas so he’s opening a new spot dedicated to freshly pressed artisanal tortillas in a multitude of varieties (white, yellow, and blended tortillas).
  • Tea time on the west coast just got a whole lot cooler. Literally. Tea-infused milkshakes made with ice flavours like Vanilla Bourbon Tea and Sakura! Sakura! Tea sorbet are the newest way to cool off this summer.

Calgary

  • In a move that will make more regulated provinces (here’s looking at you Ontario) quite jealous, Alberta has loosened up its liquor policy to allow craft beers and spirits to be sold at farmers’ markets.
