17 places to eat and drink on St. Patrick's Day in Vancouver

It’s time to pull out all the crazy green gear you can find and toss on that old leprechaun hat, because St. Patrick’s Day is just around around the corner, and Vancouver is never one to miss this beloved holiday – especially when celebrating means eating and drinking delicious things.

1. Railtown Cafe

You can head to both Railtown Cafe locations (Howe Street and Railway Street) to enjoy $4.50 pints during happy hour and drink specials on all-day like Guinness, Jameson, and Real Irish Coffee. This spot will also have savoury items like Cottage Pie Croquettes and Irish Lamb Stew, along with desserts like Shamrock Cookies, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Housemade Sponge Candy.

Anyone of age with a valid Irish passport who heads to Railtown this day will get a perfectly poured Guinness and a shot of Jameson and the cafe owner will cover their bill – now that’s the luck of the Irish.

2. L’Abattoir

Katie Ingram, Head Bartender at L’Abattoir, has created a drink for St. Paddy’s called “Bow Street and Back Again”, this beverage consists of Jameson Crested, Noilly Prat Rouge, Amaro Lucano, and Bittered Sling Arabica Coffee Bitters.

3. Glenburn Soda Fountain

Glenburn’s feature sauce for March is Salty Guinness Caramel. This can be drizzled on top of the ice cream of your choice or enjoyed as a sundae.

4. Sea to Sky Gondola

Enjoy a dinner with beer pairings from Howe Sound Brewing at the Summit Lodge. Tickets include a welcome treat and drink, as well as a three-course dinner and accompanying beers. Check out live music from Cam Salay and Sofie Hill, and be sure to get into your best green attire for the evening. Tickets to this event are $100 or $69 for pass holders.

5. The Salted Vine

The Salted Vine has created a special drink to be enjoyed on March 17 called “Another Man’s Gold”. This drink is named after a popular climbing route in Squamish, and it consists of Jameson Irish Whiskey, Golden Beet Shrub, Lemon Juice, and Egg White.

6. Dubh Linn Gate


Dubh Linn Gate Main Street is celebrating on March 17 from 11 am until close. This spot will have a limited lunch menu (11 am to 3 pm) and their regular menu will be available 3 pm to close. Expect Irish dancers and live music along with special drink and food features like this Baileys, caramel, and Guinness ice cream sundae.

7. The Charles Bar

Patrons who head to The Charles Bar on St. Patrick’s Day can expect $3 shots of Jameson and $6 Guinness, all day and night.

8. Café Medina

Marc Slingsby-Jones, the Bar Manager at Café Medina, has created the “Pecan Porter”, a drink made from Pecan-infused Jameson Irish Whiskey, Dr. McGillicuddy Intense Butterscotch Liqueur, McGuinness Crème de Cacao, and Four Winds Oat Porter.

9. The Blarney Stone


The Blarney Stone is kicking off their St. Patrick’s Day Festival at 9 am and it goes until 3 am. This outdoor festival features Irish pipers, Irish Dancers, stilt walkers, face painters, and of course, live music.

10. Doolin’s Irish Pub

Doolin’s Irish Pub will be open at 11 am to 4 pm this Friday for St. Patrick’s Day. There will be live bands, DJs, and lots and lots of beer.

17. Storm Social at Storm Brewing

Ice cream plus beer is truly a magnificent combo, and it so happens that East Van’s always irreverent Storm Brewing’s ice cream social event is going down on St. Patrick’s Day. Visitors can get one ice cream beer float when they visit for samples, growler fills, and special brews (but only one, because they aren’t a tasting room).
