Bondi’s usual white sand and blue waters were engulfed by gray as an unusual fog blanketed the entire area, which experts say was caused by warm air and weak winds.

The fog was so thick and uncharacteristic, beach-goers were saying it looked eerie.

This type of sea fog is seasonably unusual for southeastern Australia, and typically only happens once or twice a year. It is more commonly seen in the Sydney area around February.

Bondi is known for its iconic oceanside pool, laid-back beach vibes, and a reliable surf swell. About a 30 minute drive outside the city and easily accessible via public transit, it’s a must for anyone who visits Sydney.
