New year-round, non-stop flights from Vancouver to Chicago

Nov 29 2017, 11:10 am

Vancouver will soon have another direct connection to the Windy City and one of the busiest airports in the world.

American Airlines announced today it is commencing a new non-stop, daily service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

The new service will begin on May 4, 2018 using a 160-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Flights depart YVR at 11 pm and arrive at 5:14 am the next day while return flights leave at 8:35 pm and land at YVR at 11:14 pm. Business class cabin, main cabin extra eating, and in-flight Wi-Fi will be offered.

Passengers from Vancouver will be able to connect to other flights at Chicago, including American Airlines’ 130 routes serving its hub at O’Hare.

“American has proudly served Canada for more than 75 years and the country remains a key part of our growing global network,” said Richard Muise, American Airliness’ director of Canadian Airport Operations, in a statement.

“These new flights, combined with additional capacity across the country, reflect the growing demand for travel over the border in both directions.”

American Airlines will be YVR’s third service to ORD, joining Air Canada and United Airlines. It also operates routes from Vancouver that fly to Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
