Female pedestrian killed in collision in South Vancouver

DH Vancouver Staff Jan 03, 2015 9:25 am

A female pedestrian was killed in a vehicle crash yesterday evening in South Vancouver, about two blocks east of the north end of the Oak Street Bridge.

Vancouver Police say the incident happened at 7:30 p.m. on Southwest Marine Drive near Laurel Street. Paramedics arrived promptly and attempted to revive her, but were unsuccessful.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash and the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Marine Drive near Laurel Street was closed in both directions until around midnight to allow investigators to gather evidence and determine what factors may have played a role in the crash.

No other information has been made available as the investigation is still in its early stages. This was Vancouver’s first fatal collision of 2015.
