Fuck Cancer, founded in 2009 in Vancouver, has become a force in the world of cancer charities – and now the organization will be throwing events all over North America to give young adults who have, in any way, been affected by the disease, a completely unique bonding experience.
Their first Vancouver event is on Saturday, March 21 at FiveSixty hosted by Stephen Amell, the lead role on the show Arrow. Amell will be doing a VIP experience with a meet & greet opportunity at the beginning of the night. Entrance to the event is in the form of a t-shirt, rather than a ticket, that reads “FCANCER” in different colours, each one representing a difference cancer ribbon.
All funds go towards their programs around prevention, early detection and emotional support. They are currently in the first year of the new Fuck Cancer, or Fuck Cancer 2.0, which is the result of the joining of their organizations. They are currently designing their programming around providing emotional support in person and digitally to their community, creating campaigns around increasing HPV vaccinations in order to decrease cervical and other cancers, partnering and funding organizations that provide screening free of charge to populations who can not afford and designing messaging and campaigns around prevention.
