Fashionistas for the Philippines

With the recent typhoon that hit the Philippines on Nov. 8, many have been moved to do what they can to help the victims of this unfortunate disaster. In spirit of the holidays and with Christmas quickly approaching, what better time to not only shop for our loved ones but also shop and give back at the same time.

A recent initiative by the founder of Ladies Who Lunch, Maria Kritikos, is known as the Shop For Hope event, which will be on Dec. 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1320 Richards Street. Several businesses have partnered up with the Shop for Hope event and have donated several items to the cause. All the proceeds from the items sold will be going directly to the CMAT (Canadian Medical Assistance Teams) in aiding the global relief effort for the Philippines.

Some of the businesses that will be contributing to this initiative are Style by Sarai’s fashion stylist and co-founder of 1Karma Events, Jason Sarai, who will be donating several high-end pieces for this event, The Wall Group of Companies, Director of Marketing Linda Chu from Rennie Marketing Systems and the acue Creative Consulting team with founder, Kaare Long.

All the unsold pieces will be donated to Dress for Success Vancouver to aid low and no income women transitioning into the workplace and My Sister’s Closet in support of battered women.

Let’s all do something together and help those in need this Christmas season.
