For Judith and Charles, dressing for the office doesn’t have to be boring or cloaked in black. The Canadian womanswear brand that’s become known for sharp tailoring and high-quality fabrics, offers a modern take on office attire, thanks to seasonal revolving patterns and colours that transcend office basics to fashion-forward design. Despite this modern interpretation, the brand is still full of timeless pieces that any office wardrobe should not be without, i.e. a tailored suiting, pencil skirts, shift dresses, and crisp white blouses, all manufactured in Canada with fabrics sourced from Italy or Japan.
This marriage of high-quality fabrication with chic design has enabled Judith and Charles to grow to nine locations across Canada and one in New York, and now Kitsilano women can have the brand at their doorstep thanks to Judith and Charles’ new location on West Fourth Avenue. The 1,600 square foot West Fourth location is the third Vancouver location for the brand, and offers a much larger and diverse shopping experience than it’s predecessors at Pacific Centre and Oakridge Centre. Here the full collections are available, including their more casual weekend pieces among coordinating accessories such as beautiful metallic leather clutches and whispy silk scarves. The changing areas tucked away in the back are large and comfortable, set against a neutral décor palate that allow the clothes to be the only focus.
For spring 2014, Judith and Charles are injecting a subtle dose of prominent runway trends in their collection. Blush-tones, graphic prints, leather bombers and menswear tailoring seen in runway shows like Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung and Armani are done in a softer effortless way, and in cuts that are more formal, appropriate to the office environment, as well as for a broad age-range of women.
Here are some of my top picks from the Judith and Charles Spring 2014 collection:
