This year marks the fourth annual Family Day in British Columbia. Spend it the right way, with these fantastic family-friendly events happening across Metro Vancouver.

Family Day Festival and Chinese New Year

  • What: Celebrate the 4th annual British Columbia Family Day in peaceful Kerrisdale. Arts and crafts, games, a bouncy castle, and much, more more.
  • Where: Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre – 990 W 59th Avenue, Vancouver
  • When: Saturday, February 6; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Family Sleep Over at the Vancouver Aquarium

  • What: An educational sleepover for kids! Learn all about the sea, the life forms that live there, and how it affects our lives. This month’s edition is “Arctic Exploration,” so get ready for a chilly night.
  • Where: Vancouver Aquarium – 845 Avison Way, Vancouver
  • When: Sunday, February 7; 9 p.m. to Monday, February 8; 9 a.m.

Cheap admission at Science World

  • What: Enjoy 20% off regular admission at Science World this Family Day, catch one of the live science shows, check out Animals Inside Out, or just take in the many beloved, classic, and educational exhibits!
  • Where: Science World – 1455 Quebec Street, Vancouver
  • When: Monday, February 8; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

VanDusen Botanical Garden

  • What: A free day of family fun and festivities at the beautiful VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Walk the grounds, enjoy the wildlife, and enjoy a picnic. Admission is free for children up to 18 years of age, and up to two adults.
  • Where: VanDusen Botanical Gardens – 5251 Oak Street, Vancouver
  • When: Monday, February 8; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Douglas Park

  • What: Bring the family for fun in the gym, arts and crafts projects, and a bit of physical exertion with free admission to the exercise room. The family that exercises to together, stays together!
  • Where: 801 West 22nd Avenue, Vancouver
  • When: Monday, February 8; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Family Day Lunar New Year Free Skate

  • What: Celebrate family day and the Chinese New Year at the Britannia Ice Rink. Come for New Year’s treats, lion dance, and hot chocolate. Admission and skate rentals are free for everyone.
  • Where: Britannia Ice Rink – 1601 Parker Street, Vancouver
  • When: Monday February 8; 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Kensington Community Centre

  • What: Pick up your Activity Passport and stamp away the many events taking place throughout the centre. Non-competitive sports, board games, and a variety of activities for the whole family will take place at this free event.
  • Where: Kensington Community Centre – 5175 Dumfries Street, Vancouver
  • When: Monday, February 8; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Coal Harbour Family Day Extravaganza

  • What: A free event for the Coal Harbour community, featuring games, activities, entertainment, demonstrations, food, drink, and more.
  • Where: Coal Harbour Community Centre – 480 Broughton Street, Vancouver
  • When: Monday, February 8; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Celebration at the Robson Square Ice Rink

  • What: Free skate rentals and free hot chocolate from 2 to 8 p.m. will be available at the annual Family Day celebrations in Robson Square. Come down and spend the day the way it was meant to be spent: together.
  • Where: Robson Square – 800 Robson Street, Vancouver
  • When: Monday, February 8; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Family Day with the Vancouver Giants

  • What: Join the Vancouver Giants as they face off against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Family Day 2016. What better way to spend time with the family?

Lonsdale Quay

  • What: A free day of Disney themed fun at the Lonsdale Quay Market. Fun, games, and story time from your favourite Disney princesses. Along with family dance classes, face-painting, and Valentine’s Day themed crafts, there’s something for all members of the family.

Half-price lift tickets at Grouse Mountain

  • What: Enjoy savings on Grouse Mountain lift-tickets all day Monday, as well as a variety of activities for people of all ages. A pancake breakfast, Chinese sky lantern release, snowshoe tours, a puck shootout, and more will be available throughout the day.

Family Day Public Swim

  • What: Take a dip with the famiyl at Ron Andrews in North Vancouver.

Old Fashioned Family Picnic

  • What: A free, old fashioned luncheon with the whole family, hosted by John Braithwaitre Community Centre in North Vancouver. Nothing says “family” like a picnic.

  • When: Monday, February 8; 12 to 2 p.m.

Family Day Skate

  • What: Enjoy a free skating day with the whole family at one of North Vancouver’s favourite skating rinks.
  • Where: Karen Magnussen Recreation Centre – 2300 Kirkstone Road, North Vancouver

Half-price tickets on the Sea to Sky Gondola
