Vancouver Police warn of fake Drake ticket sales ahead of weekend shows

If you’re a Drake fan and you’re desperate to get your hands on some tickets for his two weekend shows, you might want to be extra cautious.

The Vancouver Police Department is warning people to be vigilant about fake ticket sales, especially if you plan to buy on Craigslist.

“Investigators are finding that last-minute ticket sales on Craigslist have a high probability of being fake or fraudulent,” says constable Brian Montague in a release. “Police get reports of fake and fraudulently purchase tickets at every event in Vancouver.”

They add that it’s impossible to know the tickets are fake until you arrive at the venue.

Earlier this year, a man was arrested by the Coquitlam RCMP for selling fake Justin Bieber tickets to a mother-daughter duo. The pair had spent $600 on the tickets purchased via Kijiji, only to find out they were fake.

Sergeant Randy Fincham told Daily Hive in March that buyers should get valid identification from the seller before completing their transaction.

“Police do regularly catch individuals who are involved in these crimes, but unfortunately victims are left without tickets or their hard-earned cash,” adds Montague.
