A summer in Vancouver is not complete without visiting the annual The Fair at the PNE, which kicks off on Saturday, August 20, and runs until Monday, September 5.
The ride passes, fair-games, and mini-donuts can definitely add up and hit your wallet hard so here are some ways you can save big and score the best deals at this year’s Fair.

1. Hero’s opening weekend
The PNE is offering free gate admission for First Responders and one guest on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21. The promotion is valid for current and retired police, RCMP, ambulance workers, firefighters, military, search & rescue, and coast guards. First Responders must present a valid First Responders service card upon entry.
2. Free admission for Pokémon GO Players
Pokémon GO players will get free admission into the Fair at on Saturday, August 20. The promotion will be valid from 11 am to noon. All Pokémon GO enthusiasts have to do is show the app on their phone to get in.
3. Free admission for all guests on Tuesdays
All guests can enjoy free gate admission on Tuesday, August 23 and 30 from 11 am to 1 pm.
4. Free admission for seniors
On Thursday, August 25, those 65-plus will be able to get into the Fair for free.
5. Wild Ride Wednesday
On Wednesday, August 24 and 31, you can get 2-for-1 ride passes, which are only available when you purchase them on site from 11 am to 1 pm.
6. Other ways to save
- Get a Twilight ride pass (valid after 5 pm Tuesday to Thursday) for $29.75
- Grab a $5 after dark gate pass with the Twilight deal (available after 9 pm)
- Save on fair gate or ride passes on the PNE website or at these retailers: 7 Eleven, Safeway, Save On Foods, Overwaitea Foods, PriceSmart Foods, and Urban Fare
