A 9.84-metre diameter tunnel boring machine has been drilling under Port Moody for more than a month to complete a 2.2 km underground segment of the 11 km SkyTrain Evergreen Line.

It took three months to assemble Alice, the name of the machine, at its launch pit located at Barnett Highway and View Street – the northern end of the tunnel.

From there, the machine’s single pass southwards will complete both the outbound and inbound tracks. No underground stations will be built for the extension.
