The infamously unfiltered comedian’s dark and gritty brand of comedy has always been a huge hit in Vancouver
Kurt Metzger is on tour with his brand new one-hour stand-up comedy special It’s Only Going to Get Worse, and will make a stop October 6th at the hottest hub on Main Street: the Fox Cabaret. Metzger, who for the last decade has been based in New York, started out doing comedy in his hometown of Philadelphia, alongside now-famous friends like Kevin Hart and Big Jay Oakerson. He quickly climbed the ranks and relocated to NYC, where his act caught the eye of HBO and Comedy Central producers. His hilarious and unique style of writing soon landed him writing gigs on two hit series: Chappelle’s Show and theComedy Central Celebrity Roasts.
Regularly performing at NYC’s top clubs, most notably the world-famous Comedy Cellar in Manhattan, Metzger’s prolific joke crafting won him friendships famous funny folks, and he launched a successful writing, acting and voice acting career with some of the biggest comedians in North America. Louis CK hired Kurt to write and guest star in both of his series: Louis, and Horace and Pete, the latter of which he plays a recurring character of the same name. Metzger also works as a writer and actor on Amy Schumer’s critically-acclaimed and Emmy Award-winning Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer, in 39 of its 47 episodes. He recently relocated to Los Angeles and is currently working on a secret project with yet another big name in Hollywood.
Metzger’s stand-up comedy act has been featured a multitude of times on HBO, Comedy Central and at the prestigious Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. He’s also appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and voiced the lead character Randall in the Comedy Central Series Ugly Americans. In 2014, Comedy Central released Kurt Metzger: White Precious, his first televised one-hour stand-up special, to rave reviews. His gritty yet charming humor had the live audience at the Gramercy Theatre laughing all the way to hell or the principal’s office. From child beauty pageants, to cyber-bullying, to the most repulsive sight one could see on the streets of New York, Metzger’s hilarious point of view is sometimes controversial but always entertaining. Being a former minister/salesman/illustrator/repo man turned headlining comic is definitely a uniquely funny perspective.
