CABEZAS DE CERA
A co-production between the Granville Island Cultural Society and the Consulate General of Mexico in Vancouver.
Cabezas de Cera are a genre-bending musical duo hailing from Mexico City whose style can only be described as a fusion of progressive rock, jazz and experimental music. Incorporating instruments from all over the world, Cabezas de Cera’s sound has been known to include whistle, chapman stick, didgeridoo, zurna, and many others, including original hand-crafted metal instruments made by the artists themselves. Inspired by a shared interest in bridging Mexico with Canada, and to break down stereotypes about Mexican music, the Granville Island Cultural Society and the Consulate General of Mexico in Vancouver have come together to co-present this evening of innovative instrumental music. The evening will appeal to Jazz and Folk Festival die-hards and music lovers of all ages and features guest musician Jim Meyer, local Chapman Stick player.
