Where’s the laugh at? Join VABF at Studio 700 for an evening of fresh comedy and a DJ set.

Come support the 2017 Vancouver Art Book Fair while sharing drinks and gags with some of Vancouver’s funniest comedians. Cameron Macleod (The Hero Show, House On Fire Comedy, JFL NorthWest) has put together a line-up of musical, standup and physical acts only book fair goers could love. DJ Cherchez will take us dancing into the night. Stay tuned for info about an exclusive after party!

CAMERON MCLEOD is a comedian, writer, director and producer who lives in Vancouver. Some of his past work includes the award-winning short films Steel Viper Force: Rise of Fiero, Orgies Happening Tonight, and Recollection Cinema presents Shotgunning. He was also involved in the creation and production of the CTV web-series The PARTY, the Leo-nominated multimedia web-series Mental Beast, Olio Festival’s Classic Comedy Roast of Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson and the popular series of live shows known as TOTAL CHINESE BUFFET. Cameron worked as a writer, editor, creative consultant and project manager for the website and currently works as a producer with JFL Northwest. He also produces the live monthly shows The HERO SHOW at the China Cloud and House on Fire at Fortune Sound Club. As a comedian and improvisor Cameron has performed across Canada as well as in New York, Seattle, Portland and LA.

JACOB SAMUEL is a nice Jewish boy and a very funny stand-up comedian who has been featured on national TV and radio. In addition to performing smart, biting stand-up, Jacob is also a cartoonist whose work has been published in The New Yorker and in other magazines all over the world. As far as he knows, he is the only Canadian comic ever to be re-tweeted by documentary filmmaker Ken Burns.

AARON CHARLES READ is an improviser, musician and visual artist working out of Vancouver. His primary contribution is as active member of The Sunday Service. Previous improv experience includes as a founding member of CCA nominated AKA Improv, a main stage player at Vancouver Theatre Sports League and providing live instrumentation for Sister Act Improv. A few notable moments in the improvisor’s young career include winning best improv troupe with The Sunday Service in 2012, a nomination in 2007 for best improv troupe with AKA improv at the age of 18, and performing alongside the likes of Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show), Paul F. Tompkins (Mr. Show), and Mark Chavez (The Pajama Men). With over 9 years of improv experience including training from Alistair Cook (Instant Theatre), David Razowsky (Second City) and Lee White (Crumbs) Aaron has cemented himself as a creative and collaborative force in the improv world.

FRAZ WIEST is an actor, comedian, storyteller, improviser and classically trained air-musician. You can most frequently catch him performing at The Hero Show, Sidekicks and the Vancouver Fringe Cabaret, or with his pals at Little Mountain Improv and Vancouver TheatreSports League.

CARLA MAH is an improviser, sketch comedian and actor, originally hailing from Nanaimo, BC. You can catch her performing and producing shows as part of her comedy duo Carmelahhh, improvising Kung Fu legends and more with Instant Theatre, and sometimes wearing elaborate homemade cardboard costumes at other shows around Vancouver. She is also a writer, producer and voice-actor for the upcoming STORYHIVE-funded animated short film Witch Problems?

KELLI OGMUNDSON is a Vancouver actor, improviser and singer. She is a member of Benjamins Improv, recently voiced a My Little Pony, and is the focus of a Supernatural meme.

NIMA GHOLAMIPOUR consumes too many chocolate croissants. He is also a Vancouver comedian, improviser, actor, visual artist and co-produces a Vancouver, duos-only sketch comedy show called SIDEKICKS. You can also find him performing regularly every Tuesday with Little Mountain Improv.
