Following up on two successful beet tasting events at UBC Farm in 2016 and 2017, FarmFolk CityFolk and the Centre for Sustainable Food System at UBC Farm are excited to announce a new event for 2018:
Seeds of Knowledge - Research Day @ The UBC Farm Market!
This event will highlight some of the results from the golden and chioggia beet variety trials in the BC Seed Trials as well as other research happening at UBC Farm - including the launch of the BC Food Web, an online database highlighting sustainable agriculture and food systems research in BC.
We will again be featuring our popular beet tasting that highlights our favourite red, golden, and chioggia beets! We will have plain beets for tasting and will feature some signature dishes prepared by BC Seed Trials Research Assistant and Chef, Carla Hick.
Seeds of Knowledge is kid friendly, so please bring the whole family along! The event takes place during The UBC Farm Market featuring the farm's glorious certified organic produce, flowers, and herbs - so be sure to bring your shopping bags. The market also hosts other vendors from the region, making it a one-stop place for your weekly shopping.
Join us on a guided tour of the farm that highlights several research projects happening at the farm. Bring the youngsters along for the tour as there will be a biodiversity scavenger hunt!
