If you’re in the mood to be captivated by thousands of jellies without rambunctious kiddies breaking the spell, join Vancouver Aquarium for the next After Hours on June 6. Enjoy the mesmerizing sights of Jelly Invasion in an adults-only environment, while sipping a beverage and experiencing the tranquility of the Aquarium without the pitter patter of tiny feet.
Jelly Invasion features over 15 species of jellyfishes hailing from various parts of the globe. These beautiful marine animals are more complex than you might think. Through our new exhibits and interactive displays, visitors can learn how jellyfish hunt, eat, protect themselves and reproduce without having hearts, brains, bones and eyes.
Guests at After Hours can also enjoy Jelly Factor, which tests visitors’ knowledge of these fascinating creatures. For instance, did you know that jellyfishes poop out of their mouths; that some have tentacles that reach 60 metres; and that jellyfishes include some of the most dangerous animals in the world? Come for the entertainment, but walk away as a jelly expert.
Ever wonder if jellyfishes are edible? You can visit Jelly Deli to learn about how these delicacies are prepared in various parts of the globe. Brave souls can even taste these Ocean Wise™ delicacies, which are specially prepared by our chefs.
During the evening, guests can get their hands wet at our Wet Lab. There, you can get a glimpse of some of the animals featured in the educational programs that take place at the Vancouver Aquarium. As well, guests can immerse themselves in a 4-D experience: BBC Earth’s The Great Salmon Run. Be prepared, this show is full of exciting sensory effects.
The Vancouver Aquarium and Vancity Buzz have teamed up to giveaway a pair of tickets to After Hours at the Aquarium on June 6, 2013.
