Easter and the chocoholic excess that comes with it is almost here, so time to start thinking of delicious and inventive sweet treats for giving to loved ones.
With dozens of locally-based chocolatiers, bakeries, and candy stores offering a range of tantalizing confections, we’ve rounded up the most delicious Easter-themed treats available in Vancouver this year.
So hop to it, load up your Easter basket with some delectable goodies that both grown-ups and kids will love.
Thomas Haas has outdone themselves this year, having crafted a seemingly never-ending list of Easter creations. The 2016 collection includes Easter Truffle Eggs, available in dark chocolate ganache with lavender, milk chocolate ganache with passion fruit, and white chocolate infused with tangerine and lime flavours; an Easter Nest, featuring an assortment of chocolate eggs and an adorable mini bunny nestled in a handcrafted chocolate nest; a Truffle Egg Box containing six assorted chocolate truffle eggs in a clear box tied with a ribbon; a Traditional Easter Bunny fashioned from milk, dark or white chocolate; and beautifully handcrafted chocolate boxes filled with an assortment of Easter truffles.

Chez Christophe’s 2016 Easter chocolate egg collection includes Eggmont the Mountie (complete with its very own iconic Mountie hat); the new Le Petit Poussin, which features a little chick cracking out from its egg shell; Hop Hop the Bunny, last year’s fan favourite Poulette; and the Caved Egg-Within-An-Egg. All Easter chocolate eggs contain a variety of Chez Christophe’s exclusive bonbons inside. Prices start from $19.95 for a small to $49.95 for a large.
Chef Thierry will be creating a variety of chocolate sculptures for Easter, including a chocolate-filled Easter egg made with 70% Guanaja chocolate by Valhrona. The chocolate sculptures will be available from Good Friday through to Easter Sunday.

Bel Café will be ringing in Easter with seasonal delights from Pastry Chef extraordinaire Wayne Kozinko. The hotel bakery will have hot cross buns available from March 14 through to 27, in addition to entremets made with white chocolate, Chantilly crème, coconut, ginger, and yuzu, which can be purchased in store from March 21 through to 27.

Hop on over to Giovane Café and grab an adorable and limited-time-only sugar bunny ($4.75 each), available from March 21 through to 28. For six bunnies or more, the café is taking pre-orders. Place an order in person or call 604-695-5557.

For Easter, Powell Street’s Cadeaux Bakery will offer a range of hand-decorated spring-inspired sugar cookies, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes (topped with flowers and birds nests), and a cake feature. Boasting a vanilla base, strawberry compote, and white chocolate mousse Cadeaux’s feature cake will be finished in a vanilla butter cream and topped with a hand-painted stained glass image of a bunny. The bakery will have a few cakes in stock but highly recommends pre-ordering. The shopfront will be closed good Friday but will be open Saturday and Easter Sunday.

This neighbourhood bakery is celebrating the holiday with Easter bunny-shaped and decorated sugar cookies. Also available are vanilla, raspberry, and pistachio flavoured Easter Egg Macarons; raspberry white chocolate Easter Egg Wagon Wheels; an adorable Baby Chick Cookie, which comes in a bag with a small sheep and small bunny; and the bakehouse’s classic hot cross buns.

West Vancouver’s Temper Pastry has quite the collection of treats on offer this Easter. Edible creations include chocolate bunnies; dark, milk, and white choc eggs; an Egg Carton with assorted bonbons; a dark chocolate Easter Puzzle; Vanilla Marshmallow Eggs; Peanut Butter Eggs; and lollipops.

Get your candy fix this Easter with Karameller’s loaded seasonal candy jars. The Mainland Street shopfront will be offering small jars ($10) and large jars ($15) filled with pastel-coloured treats. As always, Karameller Candy is free from GMOs, trans fats, and high-fructose corn syrup.

Cocoa specialist Mink Chocolates will once again be offering handmade flop eared bunnies for Easter. Available in dark and milk chocolate, these precious creations are sure to be well-received by adults and kids alike.

Soirette will be welcoming spring with a wonderful assortment of treats for Easter. Offerings will include new seasonal macaron flavours, including Cherry Blossom and White Peach. Easter-inspired goodies include adorable Bunny (matcha white chocolate) and Chic (milk chocolate) Macaron Pops. Specially-crafted Chocolate Easter Eggs come in colourful foil wrappers in three different flavours: chocolate peanut butter with a caramel centre, white chocolate pistachio with a pistachio cream centre, and milk chocolate hazelnut with a hazelnut cream centre.

Chocolate lovers will want to get their hands on BETA5’s decadent and cute Easter creations. There are praline eggs, peanut butter eggs, and handcrafted Hip Hoppin’ Bunnies (composed of layered white, blonde, milk, and dark chocolate). Faubourg Paris, Vancouver’s trio of elegant boulangeries-pâtisseries is a go-to place for unique Easter treats. From the adorable Bunny Macaron that is sure to delight the little ones, to the sophisticated Easter pastry that makes for the perfect gift for Easter brunch or dinner hosts, Ricardo Rosas, the head pastry chef at Faubourg crafted the most delicious Easter treats.
Located in Kerrisdale, this chocolatier is offering some eye-popping edible masterpieces this Easter. The shop’s handmade Peek-a-Boo Chocolate Eggs are filled with chocolate caramel truffle and are available in dark, milk, and white chocolate. There’s also a vegan option. Semi-solid Easter bunnies and chicks decorated by hand are also up for grabs.

This year French Made Baking is crafting a macaron sculpture with an Easter theme. The base “nest” is a large macaron filled with raspberries and vanilla cream and perched on top are an adorable bunny (with a caramel milk chocolate filling) and a chick macaron (lemon) duo, along with colorful macarons of assorted sizes and flavours. Orders must be placed by March 20 for pick up on March 25, 26, or 27.

This Easter local baker Anjan Kaur, who operates Cakes by Anjan, is offering an adorable sugar cookie creation set. Decorated with royal icing these colourful and moreish cookies are priced at $12.50 per box.
Specializing in handmade French macarons, Gourmand Macaron will be celebrating Easter with baby chick macarons, which are filled with milk chocolate ganache. The following locations will be carrying these adorable and delectable treats: East Village Bakery, La Petite Cuillere, Neverland Tea Salon, La Cuisson Café, and Meinhardt‘s South Granville location.
