DH Vancouver Staff Feb 01, 2016 2:33 pm

Vancouver Police are investigating an unprovoked assault on a mother who was with her child over the weekend.

At 7 a.m. on Saturday, a woman carrying her nine-month-old child was walking northbound on the west side of Commercial Drive near East 5th Avenue – three blocks north of SkyTrain’s Commercial-Broadway Station – when she was attacked by two men.

VPD Media Relations Officer Randy Finchman told Vancity Buzz the men fled the scene, heading south on Commercial then west on East 5th. The woman was transported to hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and fortunately, her young child was not hurt.

The two men remain at large and have not been identified. At this time, there is no description of the suspects.
