Donald Trump has never – and we do mean never – sounded this good.

Donald Trumpet is the brainchild of a group of UBC students Annie-Sofie Holm, Maria Bjork, and Thordur Baldursson. Presenting a bevy of quotes from the U.S. Presidential hopeful and professional controversy machine, users can turn The Trump’s choicest soundbites into foot-tapping EDM classics.

The idea started its life as “Stephen Harp(er),” but by the time things got started the Federal Election had passed them by, and the team felt Stephen Harper’s relevance fading fast. In an attempt to salvage their hard work, the team set their sights on the next best target.

“Donald Trump was the obvious choice since he met all the criteria: Interesting haircut, a musical name and controversial beliefs,” Holm told Vancity Buzz. “In his presidential campaign he attracts a lot of attention with his radical approach and provocative statements, which makes him ideal for this kind of project.”

Holm says while the project might seem political in nature, the team has no intention of supporting one side of the aisle over the other, rather to just comment on the current state of the world’s political figures.

“The idea behind Donald Trumpet is not to promote a major political statement, but rather to highlight the absurdness of the current presidential debate in the US,” says Anne-Sofie Holm. “We also hope to offer an alternative and fun way for people to access politics with a fair amount of Scandinavian irony.”

Donald Trumpet is available right now online.
