The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide: Dockside Restaurant

Jun 1 2016, 3:52 am

We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re on Granville Island for a spot of mid-morning brunch at Dockside Restaurant.

On the southeast corner of Granville Island, tucked underneath the Granville Island Hotel, sits one of Vancouver’s most hidden gems, the Dockside Restaurant.

As the name suggests, Dockside resides along the waterfront and boasts one of the most spectacular views of Vancouver, overlooking False Creek, downtown Vancouver and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.

In addition to its beautiful waterfront setting, Dockside puts on a tasty Sunday brunch spread. Featuring a variety of starters, salads and entrees, Dockside’s brunch menu is full of appetising dishes and includes a range of classic breaky plates, as well as a few lunch time offerings.

For those who prefer a brunch with eggs, Dockside offers a B.C. forest mushroom omelette with melted sharp cheddar, charred Roma tomato, toasted multigrain and lemon chili fried potatoes; a bacon, potato and leek frittata, as well as a variety of Eggs Benny combos.

Hungry for something more substantial or perhaps a little more lunch-y? Try the Dockside Pilsner battered fish and chips. Golden in appearance Dockside’s halibut is delightfully moist on the inside, crisp on the outside, and is served with house-made tartar sauce, a classic vinaigrette slaw and hand-cut fries.

In addition to the fish and chips, the kitchen at Dockside also prepares a variety of Ocean Wise seafood dishes, including: smoked wild sockeye salmon chowder; chili squid; crab and shrimp cakes, and a grilled sockeye salmon burger.

If you must have dessert at brunch, finish with the Dockside Lemon Meringue. Made with all butter pastry, lemon curd, charred Italian meringue and raspberry this decadent treat is the perfect way to round off any mid-morning meal.

As much as the people of Vancouver love to brunch, they’re also crazy about patios and Dockside is one of Vancouver’s favourites.

Dockside’s patio is currently open and brunch can be enjoyed in the sunshine on the waterfront of False Creek. The restaurant currently offers Sunday brunch with live music and will be offering their brunch menu on Saturday in high season too.
