The 2015 International LNG Conference takes place from October 14 to 16 at Vancouver Convention Centre bringing together people from all walks of life from welders, to soccer stars and even middle schoolers building spaghetti bridges.
The annual event focuses on jobs, skills training requirements, and economic opportunities related to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry. British Columbia is experiencing unprecedented growth due to one of the province’s most promising resources – natural gas – the world’s cleanest burning fossil fuel. For this reason, British Columbia is building an export industry capable of shipping LNG to Asia.
Stakeholders from across the LNG industry will gather for the three-day event, but there’s more going on than just keynote speeches and presentations. The conference provides the perfect forum to learn more about B.C.’s energy future and the opportunities it’s creating for a new generation of workers.
Some of the things to look forward to include:
Hundreds of youth will explore energy education, career planning and trades at this year’s Expo. They’ll try hands-on activities and watch students participate in skills competitions including engineering, welding, steamfitting and the ever-popular, highly riveting spaghetti bridge building. Students will also gather for a half-day mini-conference featuring a variety of speakers including Team Canada captain Christine Sinclair, who will share her views on teamwork, achievement and overcoming obstacles.
The trade show floor connects conference delegates with businesses from across BC, Canada and the rest of the world, including companies from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and the UK.
High profile speakers including global experts, industry leaders, educators, local governments, community leaders and First Nations will share their knowledge and diverse perspectives on the subject of LNG.
Each day of the Conference will centre around a specific topic: Investment, Technology & Innovation and Partnerships; so there will always be something new to explore.
