One man is dead and another is now in custody after a murder in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside on Monday afternoon.

In a release, Vancouver Police said that around 3 pm, officers were called to a residence on Princess Avenue near Alexander Street after a man’s body was discovered inside.

The death was treated as “suspicious” and detectives from the VPD’s Major Crime Section took over the investigation.

A suspect was “quickly identified” and 34-year-old Randall Whitworth Hill has now been charged with one count of second degree murder. He remains in custody.

The victim was identified as 53-year-old Vancouver resident Roscoe Henry Carmack.

This is Vancouver’s 13th homicide of 2017.
