A man wanted in three Lower Mainland cities for a series of offences was arrested in Surrey recently.

In a release issued Friday, Surrey RCMP said that on August 30, a 34-year-old Surrey resident was arrested after he was caught driving a stolen vehicle.

The next day, he was subsequently arrested again in connection with an alleged eight bank robberies across cities in the Lower Mainland, including Surrey, Coquitlam and Vancouver.

Now, Jason McClure is facing a total of seven charges: one count of Motor Vehicle Theft and six counts of Robbery.

Police credited cooperation among different jurisdictions with leading to McClure’s arrest.

“This is a great example of collaboration amongst police departments to identify and arrest a prolific offender,” said Surrey RCMP Staff Sergeant Dale Carr. “The frequency of this individual’s crimes and the risk he posed to public safety cannot be overlooked.”

Offenders like McClure, Carr added, “are often involved in other crimes in the community and have little regard for others’ safety.”
