Man 'lured' to abandoned house in Richmond and robbed

Richmond RCMP are looking for two suspects after a man was allegedly robbed and assaulted just before noon on Wednesday.

According to police, the victim reported being lured by the suspects into an abandoned house, in the 12000 block of Blundell Road, under the impression they needed help.

Once he was inside, the two suspects allegedly robbed and assaulted him, causing the victim minor injuries.

The suspects then fled the scene in what was described as an older model grey, Ford pick-up truck with “trees hanging out of the back.”

Police were called and “immediately flooded” the area in search of the suspect vehicle.

A vehicle matching the description was located shortly after the incident, by an RCMP officer on Williams Road at No 4 Road. The vehicle was then seen crossing over into oncoming traffic.

From there, the vehicle went north on No. 4 Road, “driving at a high rate of speed,” before turning on to Francis Road where it stopped.

At that point, police said, one of the suspects was seen getting out of the driver’s side of the truck, before fleeing on foot and “jumping over fences.”

The two suspects are described as:

Suspect 1:

  • Caucasian male;
  • Approximately 45 to 50 years-old with black hair;
  • around 5’10 with a medium build;
  • Wearing a pulled up black hoody

Suspect 2:

  • Caucasian male;
  • Approximately 45 to 50 years-old around 5’10 with a shaved head;
  • Wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

Now, “in an effort to further the police investigation and identify the suspects police are asking the public and local business to review their video surveillance”, said Richmond RCMP Const. Adriana Peralta. Specifically, they are also urging members of the public and local businesses to review their surveillance between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm in the following areas:

  • South of Blundell Road on Sidaway Road to Steveston Hwy
  • North of Williams Road to Blundell Road, between No 4 Road and St. Albans
