Vancouver Police are investigating after what appears to be a targeted shooting attempt in East Vancouver on Wednesday night.

Just before 10 pm, police say, they responded to several calls reporting gunshots in the area of Kamloops Street and East 10th Avenue.

Upon their arrival, officers determined a man had just parked his car on Kamloops when he was shot at as he sat in the driver’s seat.

No one was injured, but the victim’s car, as well as another unoccupied vehicle, were hit before the suspect fled in a waiting vehicle.

“Although the suspect missed the victim, this is a residential neighbourhood, and a bullet has to stop somewhere,” said VPD Const. Jason Doucette. “Luckily no one was injured. We need anyone with information about this shooting to contact us.”

Doucette said detectives from the VPD’s Organized Crime Section are currently working to determine why the victim was targeted and who is responsible.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the area, or who has information about this incident, is asked to contact investigators at 604-717-2596, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a tip online at solvecrime.ca.
