One man was arrested after a crash involving a VPD cruiser in East Vancouver on Wednesday morning.

The incident took place just after 10:30 am, when officers noticed a “suspicious vehicle” driving at a high rate of speed, said VPD Const. Jason Doucette.

Doucette told Daily Hive the vehicle was located a short time later near East 13th Avenue and Victoria Street, where a collision occurred involving the suspect vehicle, a police car, and an unrelated passenger car.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested for dangerous driving.

The suspect, as well as two police officers were taken to hospital for medical assessment, added Doucette.

The driver of the unrelated passenger car was not injured.

Officers from VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are on scene and have temporarily closed Victoria Drive to vehicle traffic between East 12th and 14th Avenues while they process the scene to help determined what may have led to the collision.

Doucette said the investigation is still in the early stages and no further information is available at this point.
